christmas gift ideasFor the kids
I love giving colorful Bibles to little kids. Books are my go-to presents. My favorite one at the moment is the ‘Big Bible Little Me‘ Bible story book. It is complete with 60 charming Bible stories, complemented by the cutest illustrations. Each story carries a life lesson (such as diligence, humility and self-control) and is explained in a simple way that little ones can understand.

Another favorite of mine is the ‘Super Heroes Prayer Book‘. Written by Carolyn Larsen and illustrated by Joe Goode, this power packed hardcover is filled with 90 super prayers that your little one can pray. Prayers for family and friends, or when they are scared, and even prayers that help them understand God’s love. It is made complete with cool action figure illustrations and comes with a 6 sheet book of super hero stickers.

christmas gift ideasFor adults
There is a huge selection of inspirational and teaching books that would make fine Christmas stocking fillers. I was especially drawn to Gary Chapman’s follow up to his infamous ‘The 5 Love Languages‘ book. The new additions titled ‘The 5 Love Languages of Children‘ and ‘The 5 Love Languages of Teenagers‘ is a must read, if you’re a parent needing a bit of guidance. These books teach us the basics of how to determine your child’s love language, that will in turn help you to love them effectively and bring out the best in them.

Another favorite at the moment is marriage book ‘You and Me Forever‘ by Francis and Lisa Chan. Francis Chan is New York Times best-selling author and together with his wife, chats about marriage in the greater scheme of things. Ann Voskamp’s ‘The Broken Way‘ would also make for a great Christmas gift. Ann is well known for her gratitude book ‘One Thousand Gifts‘. In this latest novel, she explores living life abundantly, through and in brokenness.

christmas gift ideasFor yourself
I usually try to spoil myself with a little something, during the festive season. It’s my pat on the back, if you will, minus the guilt of “oh I could have bought something for the kids/house/car instead“. This year I challenge you to try to do the same. A lovely gift idea (from myself to myself) is the wonderful Francine River’s devotional called ‘Earth Psalms‘. Christian novel readers will recognize Rivers from her array of popular written work but this one is a little bit different. In the devotional, she explores how God speaks through nature, sharing observations that she has gathered over a lifetime of exploring. It is accompanied by beautiful full color photographs taken by the very talented Karin Stock Buursma. This is such a treasure to own.

Or, if you’re a creative art fanatic like I am, get yourself a few CAM adult coloring books. My favorite at the moment is called ‘Whatever is Lovely‘ by Waterbrook. Each page features an original design from one of the featured artists, beautifully illustrating a contemplative quote, a beloved hymn, or Scripture.christmas gift ideas
