Yoto Player – the screen-free audio and music player for kids
Kids today are especially advanced when it comes to all things digital. I mean, my 6-year old could pretty much show me how to recalibrate my phone, if I asked her to. (No, I don’t think that re-calibrating a phone is a thing. But I’ll check with my 6-year old, just to be sure.) I get it though: we would LOVE to have our kids playing outside, you know, just climbing trees and making mud pies and scraping knees etc (all the stuff that our childhood was made out of) but the truth is that kids today will always be drawn to technology. Whether we like it or not. And…

What do you know about the Uber In-App Emergency Button?
I recently learnt about the Uber In-App Emergency Button and, I must admit, the e-hailing service went from amazing to even more amazinger™ (words by Luchae) in my books! At the end of a busy day at the office, nothing is more relaxing to me, than a scenic drive home. There’s something about the peace and quiet, after the bustle of a busy day, that hits me right in the feels. And, when I’m not driving myself home, I must admit I get a kick out of sinking into the backseat of an Uber, while the driver’s choice of music settles my mind. I mean, as a mom who works…

Fisher-Price Linkimals: My baby’s new crew of talking, singing, light-up friends
When it comes to friends, one could say that I’m my baby’s bestie. I mean, it’s a no brainer… the kid wants to hang out with me, like, 24/7! And hey, I don’t mind at all – have you seen his cheeks? Best cheeks in all the land. But – not gon’ lie – I was super keen when I heard that Fisher-Price Linkimals were being launched in South Africa! For those who don’t know, this toy is dubbed as “baby’s crew of talking, singing, light-up friends” (yes, just like in my title), because it’s loaded with exciting interactive play elements that are both fun and educational. The fun lights…

Rummikub is 70! {Win!}
When I think of Rummikub, I immediately remember bunking class to play a few rounds of the strategy game with university buds, while chewing on whatever munchies we could forage from our backpacks. Yep – I was that student – I totes bunked class. But also, I was thaaat student… I bunked class to play a board game. Call me a nerd, but not to my face. Anyways, years later Rummikub is still a firm fave! My new opponents are unsuspecting family members who are often amused at my level of competitiveness when it comes to the game. Best moment is getting to shout out “Rummikub!” as I slap my…

Ace that space with Sunstar GUM
A huge lesson that I am taking with me after all of the 2020 shenanigans (for lack of a better word) is that health is wealth! I mean, we’ve all been reminded of the value and importance of looking after your body #amiright? I was also reminded that a healthy mouth and fresh breath goes hand in hand with a healthy body. In fact, September is National Oral Health Month and Sunstar GUM is on a mission to help us ‘ace that space’ by efectively cleaning in-between teeth for a healthier mouth and body. Did you know that only a third of South Africans floss or clean in-between regularly? Shocking, right? (I…

Ride Safe with Uber
I’m a professional Uber-rer (is that a word?) but, with the Covid-19 pandemic floating around, I’ve been a bit more nervous about climbing into a driver’s vehicle. I was so relieved to read about Uber’s fantastic #RideSafeWithUber campaign and the protocol that they’ve put in place to ensure that both the rider AND the driver remains safe at all times! I mean, Covid-19 has drastically changed the way we live (and think!) and we’ve had to adjust to a new normal. So I’m quite pleased that Uber has decided to enhance the safety features available on the Uber app. Pre-trip A new interactive safety checklist, that both driver and rider…

How to celebrate a birthday when you’re stuck at home {Win!}
Stuck at home, on the brink of celebrating a birthday, and you’re not exactly sure how you’re going to do any celebrating at all? Well then, friend, this post is for you! Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, lock down birthdays are now a thing. And, I mean, you’re probably considering the fact that you kinda need, well, other people in order to put the “party” into “birthday party”. And you’re not wrong. But there are ways and means to celebrate the birthday boy/girl, even though you’re limited on people and resources. I love birthdays! And I believe that the only real bummer, about a solid birthday celebration, is not having…

MAGGI Hi Fibre Noodles – worth the hype?
I sometimes wonder if my kids are trying to Leon Schuster me. I mean, one day they love peanut butter sarmies and nothing else, the next day they shun my specially prepared sandwich as if it’s the plague. Come on – there HAS to be a camera hidden away somewhere, right?! Seriously though, if getting them fed isn’t enough of a chore, one also has to consider WHAT we are feeding them. Nutrition plays a vital role in a child’s development. Proper nutrients keep your children healthy and strong. And regular. (Need I remind you of the Big Constipation Debacle of 2009?) So I was especially thrilled to discover MAGGI…

Peaceful sleep with the Tommee Tippee Grobag {Win!}
I love sleep. There, I said it. I mean, I function better when I’m well rested, you guys. It’s just, like, a fact of life! And so, because of this fact (uhh of life), I’m always super keen when a brand tells me that their product promotes better sleep for babies. Ash has always been a good sleeper, but truth be told, I’m always super anxious when he sleeps soundly. I check on him every so often, to make sure that he is the right temperature and that his breathing is regular. I mean, you can call me paranoid, but not to my face. And now, with Autumn in our…

Dress like a princess with Classy Baby Boutique {Win!}
Pretty dresses are my daughter’s jam. The girl believes that she is a princess (and I am the queen, duh), so she kinda insists on only wearing dresses, because this is what princesses wear. Her princess-dress-wearing is not just for special occasions, mind you. In fact, her princess-dress-wearing is not limited to time or day or activity. We are a princess, so we wear a dress. Finish en kla. And although it does cause my spreadsheet brain to short circuit because I obviously plan her outfits in advance, her attitude towards dressing up also reminds me to enjoy my beautiful things. I mean, who says that beautiful princess dresses are…
